Buying a cheap laptop doesn't necessarily mean you are doomed to poor quality. It is possible to buy a quality laptop, from a reputable manufacturer, for a reasonable price. However, if you are looking to pay a dirt cheap price for a laptop then don't be surprised to be left with poor quality and/ or functionality.
One of the best ways to ensure you find a cheap laptop is to make sure you do not pay for any laptop features that you do not need or will not use. If you only need a laptop for its word processing capabilities and web browsing then paying for processing power and memory required for gaming could be a waste of money.
If you have the slightest inclination that you could need more memory for your laptop in a few years down the line then it may be worth buying a laptop with expandable functionality. Whilst it would be cheaper to buy a laptop that memory cannot be added to today it could prove to be more expensive in the long run needing to replace your laptop due to running out of memory.
When looking at cheap laptops I would advise settling for adequate technology rather than paying for the latest, most up-to-date technology. The highest prices are charged purely because of the demand and desirability of new products. However, if you do not need the latest laptop then save money and buy an older specification.
Bear in mind that many laptop components cannot be upgraded. As a result, thinking to the future about your laptop needs could save you from prematurely replacing your laptop. Whilst you can increase memory and upgrade hard drives you can only upgrade other features if you buy a more expensive laptop to begin with.
Gamers generally find the best machine power and specification from laptops. However, laptops offer technology sufficient to support gaming. Rather than paying for the very latest chipsets it may be worth settling for older laptop specifications as after all new technology will be released in a few months time anyway.
If you want to buy a cheap laptop but also want to invest in a trusted brand then do not fear. Manufacturers often sell old, unused laptops for a fraction of the price to clear space for storage. These discounted laptops come with warranties and therefore there are bargains to be had without worrying about being stuck with a faulty product.
When making the decision of which laptop to buy make sure you know which features you need and which features you don't. Whilst paying for features that you will never use is a waste of money, it can be more expensive in the long run to buy a laptop with not enough features to meet your needs.
